Şener Besim believes the energy that arises from creative collaboration is a positive asset to a brand and that of its partners. Working with Rem Koolhaas’ Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA), Besim explored the relationship between Ottoman Architecture and the West, connecting with leading tastemakers to showcase his vision.
The piece, a tentacular steel display unit inspired by classical Ottoman chandeliers, was unveiled at the ŞENER BESIM eyewear launch at Just One Eye, Los Angeles, alongside artworks by Damien Hirst. Dramatic and free-standing, the brutalist sculpture merges freedom and design with form and technical innovation.
The modernist aesthetic first explored in this iconic piece has become central to Besim's visual DNA. The imposing steel structure now takes prime place in the newly opened ŞENER BESIM boutique. Created to house the brand's first collection, luxury eyewear hand-crafted in Japan, each arm of the exhibition case ends with a circular, LED light-lined receptacle showcasing one of Besim's signature pieces.
